Rotary is an organization of business and professional persons united worldwide who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations and help build goodwill and peace in the world.
Rotarians come together to meet on a weekly basis to promote rotary's motto of service above self. Each Rotarian is charged with understanding and practicing the principles outlined in the Four Way Test, The Object of Rotary, and the Rotary International Constitution and Bylaws.
Clubs meet at all times of the day, for breakfast, lunch or dinner, to share insights and discussions. Each meeting features a speaker who shares their knowledge with the club on matters of business, education, local interest or rotary topics. These speakers bring new information and new ideas to the clubs. Often these speakers spark discussion on specific community needs that then lead to the development of service projects for the club.
The FOUR-WAY Test
of the things we think, say or do:
First: Is it the TRUTH?
Second: Is it FAIR to all concerned?
Third: Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
The first Rotary Meeting took place on February 23, 1905 in Chicago, Illinois and by 1910, the first international Rotary Club was established in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Rotarians around the world are excited about our upcoming Centennial Celebration in the year 2005.
